Lawyers’ indefinite strike enters 4th day

JAMMU, Nov 6: The indefinite strike by the lawyers against transfer of documents registration powers to the Revenue authorities and move to shift High Court from Janipur to Raika entered fourth day today with High Court as well as Subordinate Courts across the Jammu region wearing deserted look.
Meanwhile, more organizations extended support to the agitating advocates and appealed the Government to concede their demands to avoid inconvenience to the litigants.
In Kathua, the members of Kathua Bar Association staged dharna in the court complex of District and Sessions Judge and raised slogans against the Government. “The decision about transfer of registration powers to revenue authorities has been taken without analyzing the consequences and without taking all the stakeholders into confidence particularly the High Court Bar Association and District Bars”, said Advocate Ajay Shatru Sharma, president of Kathua Bar Association while talking to media at the dharna site.
In Samba, Bar Association under the leadership of its president Advocate Subash Singh Sambyal held demonstration and said that agitation will continue till demands are conceded by the Government.
Meanwhile, Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha and Jammu West Assembly Movement extended full support to the agitating lawyers. They urged the Lieutenant Governor to revisit the decision of transferring documents registration powers to the revenue authorities and drop the project of shifting High Court to Raika.
