The action taken by the State police against land encroachers deserves appreciation as it may deter other people from encroaching forest land.
Land mafia is quite active in the city. They grab every inch of land which they find can fetch them a hefty sum. It has also been reported that they even encroach the land supposed to act as a drainage during rains and floods. It is because of this encroachment that floods wreck havoc during floods. Since flood water does not find any escape route, it enters the households or inundates low lying areas.
The Government should act with firm determination not to allow such encroachments in the future. In case such a thing happened, one may see whole of the forest turned into a concrete jungle. And it may be invitation to disaster which no one can prevent.
