UDHAMPUR July 29: Member Parliament Ch. Lal Singh today released a book “Jammu & Kashmir Ka Gaddi Quabila Ek Pehchan” authored by President All J&K Gaddi Sabha, Thakar Dass at function organized by All J&K Gaddi Sabha here today.
Lauding the efforts of Mr Thakur for putting his best efforts in bringing out a comprehensive account of the life and culture of the Gaddi Community in shape of a book, Mr Singh said that the efforts of the author would go a long way in introducing the Gaddi Community on the broader social canvas of the state.
The MP had all praise for the community for boldly facing all the hardships during the turmoil period in the state. He said the book would serve as an eye opener as well as reference for those who are really eager to know the real life of the Gaddi tribes.
Mr Singh exhorted upon the members of the community to come forward and take maximum benefits of various state and centrally sponsored schemes especially designed for upliftment of their socio-economic status. He also asked them to impart quality education to their wards so that they could compete in different competitive examinations for their bright future.
On the occasion, the members of the Sabha projected different demands which mainly include due share in job reservation, road connectivity, adequate staff in education institutions, regularization of scholarship to the students of community, holding of awareness programmes by different departments for the Gaddi community etc.
Mr Singh gave patient hearing to the demands put forth by the members and assured them that their genuine demands would be taken up for the early redressal. He announced Rs 8 lakh for executing developmental works in different Gaddi dominated panchayats. For the purpose, he asked the concerned sarpanchs of eight panchayats to formulate a list of developmental works to be executed in their respective panchayats.
