Lakhanpur police seizes illicit liquor, arrests one

KATHUA, May 11: In continuation to its drive against illicit liquor under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal- Police team of Lakhanpur Police Station (PS) led by SHO Inspector, Sumit Sharma on second consecutive day today while on patrolling duty within its premises, seized one vehicle (Swift Car) bearing Registration Number JK02CF-4170 which was being driven by a person namely Uttam Singh, son of Dharam Singh of Kaha Khrari, tehsil Ramkot, district Kathua, at present House No. 81Gurha Bakshi Nagar, Jammu.
On checking of the car, 35 bottles of MC Punjab Excise Whisky has been recovered which were purportedly kept to be sold in the adjoining area among general public at exorbitant rates to gain illegitimate profit in the lockdown. All the recovered consignment of illicit liquor were seized and accused was arrested.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No 66/2021 U/S 50 Excise Act has been registered at PS Lakhanpur and further investigation of the case is going on.
