SRINAGAR, June 24: Prof Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor Kashmir University was conferred with Tak Zainagiri Memorial award in the field of Academics for the year 2012 by the J&K Yateem Trust.
Receiving the award from patron of the Trust, Prof Talat laid emphasis to raise the educational standards of the State to its new heights. He desired that the orphan students be given special attention and provided with ample chances for higher education in various institutions of the State and elsewhere.
While receiving the Tak Zainagiri Memorial Award, Prof Talat also paid rich tributes to the founder of the Trust Late Abdul Khaliq Tak Zainagiri. He lauded the role of the Trust for reaching to the orphans, destitute and needy and rendering social and financial support to them.
In the field of Administration the Tak Zainagiri Memorial Award was conferred on Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon while as in field of social service, the Tak Zainagiri Memorial Award was conferred on the Help Poor Voluntary Trust for its splendid work in the field of social service.
Letters of appreciations were also awarded to the former beneficiaries of the Trust for showing outstanding performance in various fields. The awardees include, Sheikh Nazir Ahmad (, Mohammad Bashir Poonchi, G N Mir, G A Shah, a prominent academician and Dr Poornima Koul
Certificates of Achievement were also awarded in favour of Dr Shah Faisal Riyaz Ahmad Beigh (Distt. Social Welfare officer Budgam), Ateeq ul Islam and Ajaz Ahmad Ganaie.
