JAMMU, Apr 4: Akhil Bhartiya Kshatriya Mahasabha has demanded installation of a life size statue of Maharaja Gulab Singh at Kunjwani Chowk and also rechristening the Jammu University on the name of founder of Jammu Kashmir State.
The demand was raised during a meeting of the Mahasabha, held today at Birpur, under the chairmanship of ABKM State president, Ravi Singh Slathia and attended by a large number of Rajput community people.
Mr Slathia also demanded that birthday of Maharaja Gulab Singh, which falls on October 21, should be declared as State holiday. Expressing his concern over insensitive attitude of the successive State Governments towards Dogra heritage, he demanded restoration and conservation of Dogra Museum, Tosha Khana, Library and Darbar-e-Aaam of Mubarak Mandi in their original glory.
Others, who spoke on the occasion, included; vice-president Amrik Singh Karamyogi, Rameshwar Singh Manhas, Ajeet Singh, Lokesh Singh, Rahspal Singh Chib, Dalbir Singh and others.
