The protesters with pla-cards and banners in their hands were shouting slogans against the authorities for their failure in tracing the cop during last 12 days and said that his whereabouts are not known since then. They said that the family is in total distress and it should be given justice failing which all KP bodies will be forced to take to streets and intensify agitation.
The protesters said that the parents of cop are wandering in Kashmir and running from pillar to post to find the whereabouts of their son but no one in the administration or Police Department has shown a word of sympathy with the family in giving any clue of the lone bread earner of the family.
The KP activists who participated in the protest outrightly rejected the claims of the police that the cop was drunkard saying if it was so how the Department had posted him at a sensitive place. They said entire community is shocked over the delaying tactics adopted by the police in tracing the missing cop and demanded that his family and the community be informed about his whereabouts immediately.
They also demanded a thorough probe be ordered in unraveling the conspiracy behind the mysterious disappearance of the valiant cop who was on duty in Srinagar. They also demanded that the poor family be compensated by paying his monthly salary as the cop has gone missing while on duty.
They also appealed the people irrespective of their caste creed and religion to come forward in the support of family.
The leaders of KP organizations which participated in protest included All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS), All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC), N C Minority Cell, PDP Minority Cell, Sampooran Kashmir Sangthan, TRT Buta Nagar, All India Kashmiri Pandit Conference, Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch (JKVM) and Pt. Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust.
Meanwhile president Panun Kashmir (PK) Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo has also demanded that the cop be immediately traced and the family be informed about his whereabouts and given all help.
In a statement issued here, today he said that his organisation took up the issue with both IG Kashmir Muneer Khan and IGP Kashmir CID A G Mir who informed him that the police is on the job to trace the youth. They said the police has already constituted the SIT in this regard. Chrungoo has also sought the intervention of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in the matter.
