JAMMU, Sept 29: Reiterating that Kashmiri Pandits have high hopes with the present Government and they have firm belief that Narendra Modi led Government would fulfill its commitment, the political leaders and some social activists today urged Government to enact the Temples and Shrines Bill, a long pending demand of the community for the protection and preservation of the temples and Shrines in the Valley as a major Confidence Building Measure (CBM) before their return and rehabilitation in Kashmir.
In a statement issued today, they appealed Union Government to enact the Temples and Shrines Bill forthwith as this long pending and too much delayed demand of the community has been raised by many KP organizations over last two decades.
Rakesh Koul Senior BJP leader and general secretary of party for district Anantnag , Vinod Pandita and Vishal Jotshi social activists said that many historical and landmark achievements have been made under the present regime since 2014 on many fronts and many promises were fulfilled for the development of the country and Jammu and Kashmir.
They appealed Central Government to ensure the passage of Temples and Shrines Bill forthwith as the temples and shrines in J&K are the symbols of religious belief and need to be protected and maintained. They also highlighted the much delayed issue of framing a concrete and time bound return and rehabilitation policy in Valley for displaced community living in exile for last more than 30 years in consultation with community leaders as Kashmiri Pandits have pinned great hopes in present Government.
