JAMMU, Aug 21: Jammu University enjoyed the glimpse of colourful kites while listening to music during a kite flying festival organized by Department of Students Welfare, here today on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan that was celebrated with great enthusiasm on the campus.
The University officials and employees gathered to celebrate this occasion and took part in kite flying.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor of JU, Professor Mohan Paul Singh Ishar said that the festival of Raksha Bandhan symbolizes the sacred bond of love, trust and commitment between sisters and brothers. “It is an occasion for us to dedicate ourselves to the well-being of women and in particular, the girl child. Prof Ishar further said that the traditional cultural values of respect for women need to be fully entrenched in our minds,”
Among others Prof N K Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, Prof J P S Joorel, president JUTA, Prof J S Tara, Director Poonch Campus, Prof Jasbir Singh, Provost Hostels, Jai Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary to VC, Dr Jatinder Khajuria, Joint Registrar, Dr Prakash Anthal, Director, Patnitop Campus, Dr Lalitsen, Dr Vijay Sehgal, Amit Sudan, Event & Marketing Manager, U4U Voice, scholars and students were also present on the occasion.
