Kingpin of drug racket nabbed with around 2 kgs cannabis

JAMMU, Nov 11: Police today arrested kingpin of a drug racket and recovered large quantity of cannabis (charas) from his possession in Paloura Top area, falling under the jurisdiction of Janipur police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Janipur police station laid a special naka in Paloura Top area and intercepted a pedestrian carrying bag under suspicious circumstances.
On seeing the police party, the person tried to escape from the spot, but was chased by the active cops of Janipur police station and nabbed from some distance.
During search of the bag, police recovered over 2 kilograms of cannabis (48 challis of charas) and arrested the accused, who has been identified as Rajneesh Bali, son of Romesh Bali of Ward Number 7, tehsil Sunderbani, district Rajouri.
The accused had purchased the consignment of cannabis from Srinagar and was about to deliver to one of his associate in Paloura area, but was nabbed by the Janipur police.
A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Janipur police station and investigation started to arrest the other persons involved in the racket.
Police team led by SI Arun Sharma and SHO Janipur police station Inspector Manzoor Ahmed Kohli busted the drug racket under the supervision of SDPO West Shriram, SP South Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
