JAMMU, Aug 2: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today expressed grave concern over rising inflation which has broken the backbone of common man in the State.
Addressing a large gathering of women and other people in Nai Basti area of Gandhi Nagar constituency today, Bhalla expressed serious concern over soaring prices of essential commodities. He alleged that Government has failed to control the prices of  vegetables, fruits and other essential items. He alleged that officers of the concerned departments were also sleeping over the matter.
While alleging that people of many localities of Jammu city are facing shortage of water, ration and other crisis, former Minister said that rising inflation coupled with other problems have made the life of people miserable in the State. The Congress leader slammed the elected representatives for ignoring genuine and basic issues of common men who are moving from pillar to post for the redressal of their genuine grievances.
He said that soaring prices of essentials and others items have badly affected the common people in the State. The prices of vegetables and other food items have reached an unprecedented high, making impossible for the common people to prepare their monthly budget. ‘Roti, Kapda Aur Makaan’, are the basic needs of one’s life but with soaring inflation in India, sadly all three necessities are becoming unaffordable day by day. He said that the worst hit are the housewives, whose monthly budget has gone awry due to  price hike of vegetables and fruits.
Former minister said that due to wrong policies of the Central Government, the inflation has gone so high to make difficult the life of a common man.   He condemned the frequent increase in prices of diesel, petrol, cooking gas and the common use commodities. He demanded that the rates of the common use items should be reduced and more job opportunities may be provided to the unemployed.
