KCSC Winter Cricket Cup gets underway

JAMMU, Jan 4:  The 2017 edition of the Winter Cricket Cup 2017 Inter Club tournament sponsored by KC Sports Club got underway today, with 20 leading Cricket Clubs of Jammu taking part in the tournament.
Prior to the launch of the event, all the local clubs availed the free facility of indoor practice in the spacious air-conditioned Cricket Hall of KC Sports Club. They put in a lot of net practice in the hall both during day and night and sharpened their skills in batting and bowling to prepare themselves for forthcoming events.
The tournament is being played on knock-out basis and will continue for 20 days.
The inaugural match was played between K C Sports Club and Secretariat XI.
Batting first, K C Sports Club scored a decent total of 174 in the allotted 20 overs. Bhanu was the highest scorer with 53 runs off 45 balls, while Vishavjeet made brisk unbeaten 25 runs off just 7 balls. For Secretariat XI, Sukmi and Sami took 1 wicket each. In reply, Secretariat XI failed to chase the target and bundled out for 106 runs, thus lost the match by a big margin of 68 runs. Kapil top scored with 36 runs off 43 balls, while Yasir scored 22 runs. For KC Sports Club, Arjun, Aman and Yudhveer took 2 wickets each. Bhanu Partap was declared as the man of the match.
