Kathua police seizes charas, arrests drug peddler

KATHUA, July 19: Kathua police under the guidance of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal, today seized approximately 180 grams of charas like narcotics in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Lakhanpur, arrested one drug peddler and seized one vehicle on spot.
Police said a team led by Inspector, Vijay Kotwal SHO, PS Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP, DAR Kathua, Sukhdev Singh during Naka checking duty in its jurisdictional area near Lakhanpur noticed one suspicious vehicle (Car) bearing Registration Number JK14B-8427 enrouted from Punjab towards Kathua which was being driven by one Manoj Kumar alias Manu, son of Heera Nand of Danho tehsil Marheen district, Kathua at present W. No 17 Kathua who was signaled to stop for checking.
On thorough checking approximately 180 grams of Charas like narcotics was recovered from his illegal possession. Thereafter all the recovered narcotics along with one vehicle was seized and one person was arrested. On this instant case vide FIR No. 62/2022 U/S 8/20/ NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station, Lakhanpur and further investigation is underway.
