KATHUA, Sept 2: Tightening the noose of bovine smugglers within the district, Kathua police rescued a total of seven bovines at Lakhanpur area, arrested driver of the vehicle and seized one Canter involved in smuggling of bovines.
Officials said a police team led by SHO, PS Lakhanpur under the supervision of Additional SP, Kathua & DySP DAR Kathua during naka/ checking at Lakhanpur noticed the movement of one suspicious vehicle (Canter) bearing Registration Number HP73A-8133 which was being driven by a person namely Salman, son of Zulfaqar of Jamna Nagar Haryana enrouted from Punjab towards J&K UT was signaled to stop for checking. During checking of the vehicle, seven bovines(cows) were found loaded in the vehicle mercilessly which were rescued, driver arrested and seized one vehicle involved.
In this connection FIR No. 119/2026 U/S 223/BNS, 11/PCA Act was registered at PS Lakhanpur and further investigation into this matter has been set into motion.
