Kathua police rescues 5 bovines, seizes truck

KATHUA, Nov 29: In its endeavour and commitment to contain the activities of bovine smuggling in the district and under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal, police team of Police Post (PP) Chadwal foiled a bovine smuggling attempt near Chappaki road and rescued five bovines and seized the vehicle as well.
Police said in the wee hours of November 11, a police team led by Inspector, Arun Slathia, incharge PP Chadwal while performing special naka checking duty near Chappaki road noticed one suspicious vehicle bearing Registration Number JK02BN-3708.
Sensing danger, driver of the vehicle managed to fled away from the spot while leaving behind the vehicle abandoned.
During checking, five bovines were found to be loaded in the vehicle, which were presumably being taken without any legal permission. Meanwhile, all the five bovines were rescued and one vehicle was seized. A case FIR Number 245/2021 U/S 188/IPC, 11PCA Act has been registered at Rajbagh Police Station and further investigation has been set into motion accordingly.
District police requested to the general public to come forward and share any valuable information with the police regarding bovine smuggling menace.
