Kathua police arrests 5 thieves, recovers stolen bikes, other items

KATHUA, Sept 17: District police Kathua achieved a major success by apprehending five thieves and recovered stolen bikes and other items including eight Motorcycles, 21 Mobile Phones, four smart watches, one DVR from them.
This was stated by SSP Kathua, RC Kotwal while talking to reporters here, today.
He said on September 13 complainant namely Som Lal, son of Amru of Kishanpur Kandi, tehsil Marheen district Kathua proprietor of M/S Sangam Motors, Kharote Morh, NWW Kathua lodged a complaint at PS Kathua stating that during the intervening night of September 5 and 6 some unknown thieves decamped with seven new Splendor Plus Black Color Motorcycles from his Agency. A case FIR No. 361/2022 U/S 457/380/IPC was registered at PS Kathua and investigation started.
SSP said during the investigation one person namely Murad Ali, son of Surmu of Ward No. 12 Kathua was arrested and he disclosed that he along with his two accomplices had stolen motorcycles from the agency and from other areas also. On his disclosure, six stolen motorcycles were recovered by police team of PS Kathua from Maggar Khad area out of which five Motorcycles were stolen from M/S Sangam Motors, Kharote and one Motorcycle from other place the complaint of which was filed by Suresh Kumar, son of Bishan Dass of Dadoli tehsil Nagri Parole district Kathua.

He said on September 8, Kathua police has launched a manhunt for other persons involved. The interrogation of the suspect is going on. The recovery of the motorcycles made by incharge Police Post, Hatli, PSI Ranbir Singh, SHO, PS Kathua Inspector, O P Chib under the guidance of DySP Headquarters Kathua Shammi Kumar.

SSP Kathua said while in PS Rajbagh, on September 6 complainant namely Sushil Kumar in his application at PP Chadwal said that during the intervening night of September 5 and 6 unknown thieves entered in his shop and broken the two locks of Shutter and decamped with electric items of worth Rs. 831855/- approximately for which a case FIR No. 176/2022 U/S 457/380 IPC was registered at PS Rajbagh.
Acting on a tip off, on intervening night of September 14 and 15 police party led by PSI Muzamil Manzoor IC PP Chadwal and SHO, PS Rajbagh Inspector, Amit Kumar under the supervision of SDPO Border, Pankaj Soodan rounded up several suspects for interrogation and police team was able to arrest three suspects namely, Sahil Saini, son of Ramesh Saini of Nagri, Kathua, Sunil Dutt, son of Sardari Lal of Chak Drab Khan Kathua and Mohammad Shafiq, son of Mohammad Javed of Chak Drab Khan Kathua.
During sustained questioning, all the three persons confessed their crime and also disclosed the involvement of another person namely Kapil Dev, son of Subash Chander of Badala Kathua.
They said after committing theft all the accused proceeded towards Nagri via Ghair Morh and the stolen property was hidden under a culvert near Mukandpur bridge. Thereafter Kapil Dev, son of Subhash was arrested from Sanjimorh and on his further disclosure the stolen items were recovered.
