Kathua police achieves major break through in Rs one cr robbery

KATHUA, Nov 22: Kathua Police has achieved a major breakthrough in Rs one crore Highway robbery which took place during late night of October 26 near village Barwal on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway by arresting eight persons in this connection.
Police however refused to disclose their identity saying that it will hamper the investigation. All the eight persons were produced in District and Session Court Kathua today and remanded to six days police custody. The police has put them to sustained interrogation.
It may be recalled that three armed bandits reportedly looted Rs one crore cash from a goods carrier on gun point near village Barwal on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway during the intervening night of October 26 and 27 from a goods carriers bearing Registration No UP 16 CT 6753 which was loaded with goods and was on way from Montage Industry Pvt Ltd, Bari Brahmana , Jammu to Delhi. When the truck reached near Kathua it was intercepted by Bolero borne three gunmen and they forced the driver to halt the vehicle on gun point near Barwal Morh on Jammu -Pathankot National Highway and asked the driver to open the lock of rear door of truck and looted cash of Rs one crore loaded in the vehicle in a cartoon and fled away from the site.
It was the same cartoon which was indicated by Manager of Company that was to be handed over to Delhi based Manager as the cartoon contains some sample of goods. As per reports the truck driver was not aware of any cash in the cartoon which he was carrying to Delhi. Even the driver has also cash in his hand for on way expenses. But the Highway robbers did not harm the driver and neither snatched the cash which was in his pocket.
After the looting incident the driver drove to nearby Hatli Morh Police Post and informed the police about the robbery. The Senior Manager of Montage Industry Pvt Ltd, Narinder Chopra reported the matter to Kathua Police during late night on October 26 and police registered a complaint of cash robbery with it.
