JAMMU, Oct 2: An art institute Kalakruti was inaugurated today which is first of its kind in Jammu and would provide expertise on three different aspects of theatre, dance and music under one roof.
Speaking on the occasion, the chairperson of the institute, Neha Lahotra said that idea to take up the holistic programme under one roof is to inter-connect the three forms of art and produce a convenient platform where the artists can excel in their skills in unison.
“Theatre is an art form which includes important ingredients of music and dance. The three always need a comprehensive unity so that a workable end-product could be achieved in drama.  My concept is to interconnect the three forms so that drama in its realistic essence could be achieved”, said Neha Lahotra.
She also informed that the institute would lay emphasis on producing English theatre as there is no platform in Jammu where the young lot can exhibit its linguistic skills through English.
There are fast emerging trends on spoken English and its wide usage for jobs accomplishments at national level by the youth of the State. We, at Kalakruti would effort to bring youth through theatre on stage with English performances so that their latent abilities could be exposed, she said.
Anoop Goswami, director of Kalakruti said that the institute would be a launching pad for the learners who could use the opportunity through the stage plays to imbibe the art of expressing themselves at all forums.
