JAMMU, Nov 16: A large number of people including traders, employees and prominent citizens of Jammu West Constituency under the aegis of Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today held a protest and staged dharna on Janipur-High Court road, against the worst traffic problems and traffic jams in Jammu city.
Addressing the protesting people, JWAM president, Sunil Dimple, said the traffic jams in the city in general and Jammu West constituency in particular are becoming worst while the traffic police have failed to regulate the traffic.
The protesting people raised slogans against the traffic cops as wells PWD (R&B), ERA and JMC for swindling the funds meant for the construction of flyovers and widening of the BC Road and road from Rehari Chungi to Jewal Chowk.
He said that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh should discuss the rising traffic problem in the Jammu city in the Cabinet meeting to be held on November 19 and issue the directives to construct the flyover from Rehari Chungi to Jewal Chowk.
Dimple appealed the State High Court and the Chief Justice to intervene and help the people of the Jammu city to solve the traffic problem. He also demanded starting of Metro Rail, Mono Rail and construction of Circular Roads to solve the traffic problem faced by the people of Jammu City.
JWAM president further demanded construction of alternative four way circular road from Manda (Amphalla) to High Court, Janipur, to Roop Nagar, Bantalab and from Jewal Chowk to Talab tillo via Bhagwati Nagar to ease the traffic rush on these roads. He also demanded widening of the Jammu-Akhnoor road.
