JAMMU, Feb 27: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) leader, Sunil Dimple has demanded return of Salal and Uri hydel projects to J&K.
He said that Salal and Uri hydel projects produce electricity sufficient enough that it can be given free of cost to the people of J&K apart from selling it to other States.
In a handout JWAM leader opposed the proposed tariff hike of power by Power Development Department (PDD) and said that there will be an agitation against the installation of pre and post-paid electricity meters in J&K Union Territory.
Dimple claimed that PDD has planned installation of four lakh pre and post-paid smart meters to record power consumption in J&K.
He asked Lieutenant Governor, G.C Murmu that installation of power meters in J&K should be stopped as many people here live in far flung areas and will have problems in paying heavy power bills.
