JAMMU, Sept 24: Inter-Collegiate Competitions in various sports disciplines, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu are in full swing at different venues, here.
In Inter-Collegiate Judo (Women) at Indoor Stadium University of Jammu, four affiliated Colleges took part in different weight categories, wherein GCW Parade emerged winner and lifted the title by securing 38 points and GWC Gandhi Nagar remained runners-up with 20 points.
The gold medal winners in various weight categories included Sumati Singh of GCW Parade, Yashita Jamwal of GCW Parade, Isha Wazir of GCW Parade, Paheli Sharma of PG Department, Poonam Sharma of GCW Parade, Sadaf Iqbal Khan of GCW Parade and Shivani Sharma of GCW Parade.
Meanwhile, in Inter-Collegiate Volleyball (Men) Championship 2014-15, second round matches ended today in the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Volleyball (Men) Championship 2014-15, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, Jammu at University Sports Ground.
GDC Ramnagar beat GDC Kathua by (2-1) sets (21-25, 25-21, 15-8), GDC Samba drubbed New Age College Billawar by (2-0) sets (25-12, 25-20), MAM College trounced GDC Akhnoor by (2-0) sets (25-13, 25-17), GDC Udhampur outplayed SVS Sunderbani by (2-0) sets ((25-16, 25-14), GGM Science beat GDC Rajouri by (2-0) sets (25-12, 25-13) and PG Department beat GDC Poonch by (2-0) sets (25-19, 25-22).
The matches were organized by Vikas Karlopia, Volleyball Coach, University of Jammu. The matches were officiated by Rajan Sharma, Amit Sharma, Sangita Bhatt, Priya Charak and Prableen Kour.
At M A Stadium, GCW Parade lifted Inter-Collegiate Basketball (Women) Trophy by defeating P G Department in neck to neck fight with a close margin of (27-26) points.
Rajan Sharma, Divisional Sports Officer, J&K Sports Council, M A Stadium Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the trophies among the winners.
Prominent among others who were present at the occasion included Rajinder Magotra, Sushma Jamwal, Rajeev Dogra, Sudesh Kumar, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Vikas Karlopia, Ranbir Singh, Suman Lata and Gagan Kumar.
The match was officiated by Aman Sharma, SAI Coach, Mohd Shafi, Manoj Kumar, Rajesh Bandral. Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi (Women) Championship 2014.
PG Department drubbed GCW Udhampur by 5 points, GCW Parade got better of GCW Gandhi Nagar by 1 one point.
In the final, GCW Parade outplayed P G Department by 11 points.
Anil Sharma, Ankush Gupta, Gagan Kumar, Harpreet Singh, Amandeep Singh and Keshav Singh officiated the event.
All the matches were conducted under the overall supervision of Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, Jammu.
