JAMMU, Sept 30: After more than two decades, Jammu University has revived its SC/ST Cell and appointed Liaison Officer as well as Coordinator of the Cell besides constituting an Advisory cum Standing Committee as per UGC guidelines for SC/ST employees of JU.
An order in this regard was issued today, according to which, Prof Satinder Kumar of the Department of Law shall function as the Liaison Officer and Dr Parvinder Kumar of the Department of Zoology (Deputy Coordinator of Human Genetics) as Coordinator of the Cell.
Headed by the Vice-Chancellor as Chairman, the Advisory cum Standing Committee comprises Prof Satinder Kumar (Liaison Officer), HoD Political Science, HoD Urdu, Principal GDC Bishnah, Principal GDC Kunjwani, Principal GDC Samba, Dr Virender Koundal of the Department of Economics, Dr Madhulika Bhagat of the School of Biotechnology, Dr Mohd Arif of the Department of Law, Dr Parvinder Kumar of the Department of Zoology and Dr Vijay Kumar Shivgotra.
As per the order, the committee shall meet twice a year to review the position and to address problems, if any. The work relating to the implementation of the reservation policy shall also be monitored by the Advisory cum Standing Committee.
This SC/ST Cell shall be placed under the Administrative control of the Liaison Officer and shall be housed in the Institute of Human Genetics. The Cell shall be provided one Junior Assistant and one Orderly for its smooth functioning.
