JAMMU, May 26: A high level committee of Jammu University today took up various issues pertaining to the class IV employees of the University and discussed these in details. The meeting appealed Class IV employees to suspend the strike.
Vice Chancellor, of the University, Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, presided over the meeting, which was constituted by the 74th University Council of the University.
The Financial Advisor (Universities) B B Vyas, Principal Secretary (Planning and Development) B R Sharma and Registrar, University of Jammu, Prof Naresh Padha also participated in the meeting.
The issues which were discussed included regularization of persons engaged on casual labour basis in the University; type test of Class-IV employees ought to be 3 years instead of 5 years as prevalent in the State Government Departments; washing allowance @ Rs. 50/- per month to the Class-IV employees; 14 employees who joined in 2010 to be treated under old Pension Scheme and determination of pay scales/pay band with Grade Pay to be given under Three Tier Career Advancement Scheme in favour of Class-IV employees.
During the meeting, Committee was favourably inclined over the issues and positive outcomes were expected in the near future.
The Financial Advisor assured that the genuine demands of the Non-Gazetted employees will be resolved soon, however, it urged upon the employees to wait for the procedural requirements which will be done in due course of time.
The meeting was informed that the issue relating to the regularization of contractual/casual labours also applicable to the employees of the University of Kashmir and the State Government apart from those in the University of Jammu and the steps have been initiated for long term solution of the problem.
The employees were requested to co-operate the authorities in formulating the modalities of the scheme of regularization in a shortest possible time.
Later the University authorities urged the Class-IV employees to suspend the ongoing strike in the interests of the institution in general and students of the University in particular.
