JAMMU, Sept 17: Up in arms against the alleged callous attitude of the university administration towards their long pending demands, the Jammu University Non-Gazetted employees today began indefinite token strike.
The protesting employees observed a brief dharna in front of the Administration block and raised slogans in support of their demands, which include revision of their pay band, regularization of Genetics Department employees, taking into count earlier services of Helpers for their promotion, etc.
The protest dharna was held under the banner of Jammu University Non-Gazetted Employees Union, led by Vijay Sharma, who criticized the JU administration for adopting dilly dally attitude on their long pending genuine demands
He also warned to intensify the token strike if their demands are not considered by the university. Others, who addressed the protest dharna, included vice-president Suraj and general secretary Banarsi All Sharma.
During the protest dharna, proper physical distancing was maintained by the employees, who vowed to continue the token dharna for one hour daily till their demands are considered.
