JU hosts Inter-Collegiate Gatka, Kabaddi C’ships

JAMMU, Sept 1: The Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, organised the Inter-Collegiate Gatka (Men) Championship and commenced the Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi (Women) Tournament for the session 2026-27 at the Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu.

In Fari Soti Individual, Sehajveer Singh (PG Department, JU) won gold, Sarabjeet Singh (GDC R.S. Pura) silver, Maninder Singh (MBS College) first bronze and Adhiraj Singh (GDC Kunjwani) second bronze.

In Single Soti Individual, Rajveer Singh (Dogra Degree College) bagged gold, Kanavjot Singh (GDC Kathua) silver, Jashanpreet Singh (Bhargwa Degree Samba) first bronze and Harbhajan Singh (GDC Nowshera) second bronze.

In Fari Soti Team, PG Department, JU won gold with Onkar Singh, Sarabjot Singh and Sehajveer Singh; GDC Samba took silver with Lakhvinder Singh, Mandeep Singh and Roopinder Singh; GDC RS Pura secured first bronze with Jagmeet Singh, Sarvjeet Singh and Hardeep Singh; while GDC Kunjwani won second bronze with Ansh Sharma, Jaskaran Singh, Harmandeep Singh and Rizwan Ahmed Lodhi.

In Single Soti Team, GDC Kathua won gold with Kanavjot Singh, Dilpreet Singh, Manpreet Singh and Diljeet Singh. Dogra Degree College secured silver with Bhavneek Singh, Rajveer Singh, Tejveer Singh and Ramanjot Singh. GDC Kunjwani bagged first bronze with Simranjeet Singh, Japneet Singh, Gagandeep Singh and Simarpreet Singh, while GDC Nowshera won second bronze with Harbhajan Singh, Harkirat and Tajinder Singh.

PG Department, JU won the overall Gatka championship with 20 points. In Women's Kabaddi, Trikuta College of Physical Education defeated GCW Bhagwati Nagar by 16-4, GCW Udhampur defeated GDC Bhaderwah by 30-15, and GCW Kathua defeated GDC Basholi by 26-8.
