JTC for townships in Valley

JAMMU, May 23: A joint meeting of Jagti Tenements Committee and Soan Kashmir Front was held at Nagrota today under the chairmanship of Shadi Lal Pandita its president.
The meeting, while discussing the return formula of Kashmiri Pandits said that the return was not possible to ancestral villages under the given security situation in the Valley. Mr Pandita demanded that such a mechanism be created for rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley that they are not again forced to flee from there.
In this connection he suggested construction of a townships near Srinagar city for settling the migrants.  He also demanded that a compensation not less than Rs 50 lakh be paid to migrants for the losses suffered by them.  It demanded reservation of two Parliamentary seats and 10 Assembly seats for Pandits.
Meanwhile, senior KP leader and president All India Kashmiri Pandit Conference (AIKPC) H N Jatu today said that no KP body had so far discussed the return formula for Pandits and only the discussions were held with Union Government for bettering the facilities for migrants.
He said return to Valley is a premature issue and any decision in this regard taken in hurry will boomerang.
