JAMMU, Nov 21: On the directions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Mandeep Kaur, Joint Commissioner (Adm) RS Jamwal conducted tour of vegetable market at Parade.
During the tour Joint Commissioner (A) interacted with various fruit and vegetable vendors and listened to their issues including space available in market and infrastructure.
Due to the nature of working of market, there is always a huge dump of residue that become heaps and creates unhygienic condition in and around the area, they said.
The sanitation staff was directed to maintain proper sanitation in every nook and corner of the market.
JMC undertook a cleanliness drive in the market area where the choked drains were desilted.
Further, the representative of Market Association highlighted one unsafe dangerous building and demanded that the building should be re-constructed as multi storey Vegetable Market, so as the space of the building can be utilized properly.
Joint Commissioner (Adm) assured them that the demand will be discussed with higher authorities for the convenience of the fruit/vegetable vendors.
Among others Health Officer, Chief Transport Officer, Chief Enforcement Officer, Enforcement Officer, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Sanitation Officers and other field staff of Corporation were also present.
Meanwhile, Joint Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Committee (JMC),  RS Jamwal today visited TNWS Office and interacted with the residents of Trikuta Nagar to have the first hand information of the civic and other problems being faced by them.
Members of the TNWS highlighted various problems of the area with Joint Commissioner which included providing of medium size dustbins for disposal of domestic waste, providing proper covered garbage dumpers at suitable points and regular removal of garbage, repairing of damaged street lights, providing new street lights at vulnerable points, repair of non-working high mast lights at main road crossings and providing at two more high mast lights at busy dark spots, repairs of badly damaged drains, black topping of lanes and by-lanes, clearance of 3-barsati nallahs and steps to be taken to prevent mosquito breeding.
Joint Commissioner, JMC assured to mitigate the problems raised by the residents.
