JAMMU, July 17: Jammu State Morcha (JSM) has submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister (PM) and Home Minister (HM) demanding trifurcation of J&K and creation of separate Jammu State.
This was stated by Prof Virender Gupta, president, JSM, during a press conference here today.
According to the memorandum, JSM strongly supports the demand of Telangana State and calls upon the Government to consider the other demands of creating new States including Jammu, Prof Gupta informed.
Carving out of a new Jammu State out of the present J&K is an extremely genuine and viable demand, he said, adding that Jammu has all the possible infrastructure and economical viability for having the status of a separate State.
The people of Jammu region are neglected lot in all spheres and deprived of their share in the democratic, administrative, social and economic processes, he added.
In the memorandum submitted to PM and HM, JSM demanded to constitute Jammu a separate State and Kashmir a separate State, Union Territory status for Ladakh and centrally administered piece of land carved out within the Valley for the settlement of Kashmiri Pandits and other minorities.
Among others present were Nathu Ram Gupta, Chandra Uday Sharma, Vishav Bandhu Gupta and Devender Singh.
