*DPS Jammu dominates in Chess

JAMMU, July 25: Defeating MHAC School Nagbani by two goals to one (2-1) via tie-breaker in the summit clash, Jodhamal School won the title trophy of the Under-14 Football Tournament during Inter School District Level Chess Competitions in various disciplines of sports here.
The Inter School District Level Competitions are being held in Badminton, Chess (U-19 boys & girls) and in the disciplines of Fencing, Football & Hockey (U-14, U-17 & U-19 boys & girls) at various venues, here.
The competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports, district Jammu under the patronage of Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director General, Youth Services & Sports J&K and under the Chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director, while Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu is the Organizing Secretary of the tournament.
The Results: Football Under-14 Boys at GGM Science Collge ground, Jodhamal School beat MHAC Nagbani by 2-1 via tie breaker.
Hockey Under-19 Boys at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium Jammu, New National School Miran Sahib drubbed APS Jammu Cantt by 3-0.
Hockey U-17 Boys at KK Hakku Stadium Jammu, Govt High School Gole Gujral thrashed APS Miran Sahib by 5-0.
Badminton U-19 Girls at MA Stadium Jammu, APS Ratnu Chak trounced Maharishi Vidya Mandir by 2-1 in the final.
Chess U-19 Boys at Scout & Guides Hall Gandhi Nagar, DPS Jammu beat MVM School by 2-0. Superb and Hargun of DPS Jammu defeated Daksh and Pushap of MVM School.
Chess U-19 Girls at Scout & Guides Hall Gandhi Nagar, DPS Jammu outplayed MIER Jammu by 2-0. Bhumi and Akriti of DPS Jammu beat Riya and Trisha of MIER Jammu.
Fencing U-17 Boys at Guru Harikrishan Public School Jammu, Shivansh Kapoor of KC International School bagged 1st position in Epee, while Tanish Mahajan of Shiksha Niketan claimed 1st position in Foil event.
Meanwhile, the Zonal Level Inter School competitions in the disciplines of Badminton, Wrestling, Football and Table Tennis were declared open by Zonal Physical Education Officer, Surinder Kour at Sports Stadium Kathua. The competitions are also being held at DAV Lachipur.
