JAMMU, Oct 3: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today inaugurated its first under-flyover badminton court at Pata Paloura on Akhnoor Road in Ward 61, providing dedicated sports facility for local residents and youth.
The facility was inaugurated by Sham Lal Sharma, MLA Jammu North, in the presence of JMC Commissioner Dr Devansh Yadav. Located beneath the flyover opposite BSF School, the court has been developed to promote sports and encourage youth participation in healthy and constructive activities. CCTV cameras will also be installed at the site for safety and security.
The site had earlier witnessed a plantation drive by JMC under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), while a green walkway has also been completed under the flyover as part of the initiative.
Sham Lal Sharma appreciated the JMC for developing the sports facility and emphasised the importance of providing accessible sporting infrastructure in residential areas.
Dr Devansh Yadav said JMC was committed to developing public spaces and community facilities to promote a healthier and more active urban environment. He said similar initiatives would be taken up at suitable locations across the city. The attendees were urged to maintain cleanliness and take proper care of the badminton court and plants.
