JAMMU, Feb 23: Joint Commissioner (A), Jammu Municipal Corporation, RS Jamwal, today visited various areas of Gandhi Nagar constituency and inspected desilting work being taken up by the Chief Transport Officer, JMC, on the directions of JMC Commissioner, Mandeep Kaur.
The Joint Commissioner directed the Chief Transport Officer to desilt the nallas well before the Moonsoon. He also inspected the progress of mechanical work that was going on by engaging 1 Tracked Excavator, 3 JCBs and 8-10 tippers. He was accompanied by prominent citizens of the area, Chief Transport Officer, Transport Officer and other field staff of JMC.
Jamwal directed the concerned staff members to deploy men and machinery to the best satisfaction of the people and also appealed all the citizens of Jammu City not to throw plastic, garbage, mulba, etc in the Nallas that create blockage. He said that in case of any problem, the citizens can approach JMC online for redressal of their grievances.
He said that JMC has prepared three-month action plan for the desilting of Nallas which has already been started from Feburary 1. He informed that on February 1 the desilting work was started from Lundoi Choi Nallha Trikuta Nagar and completed upto Sanjay Nagar area during which about 600-700 MT of silt/garbage was removed from the Nallah on daily basis.
