JKTF to go on chain hunger strike against violation of transfer norms

JAMMU, Sept 22: Alleging pick and choose in recent transfers of Teachers, Masters and Lecturers, Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) has announced agitation against the same till the orders in violations of rules and regulations in Transfer Policy are rectified.
“We will not sit idle on the gross violation of Transfer norms and the Forum is going to observe 72-hour chain hunger strike from September 26 while further course of action will be decided on September 28,” announced Ganesh Khajuria, general secretary of JKTF, while addressing a press conference, here today.
He took a strong note of the alleged mal-practices adopted in the transfers by befooling the teachers in the name of much publicized transfer melas as the teachers who had served in the far flung areas for a long period were given no relief while the blue-eyed teachers were transferred within the zero kilometer in the city.
“Those who served in far flung areas have been again transferred to the remote pockets while several blue eyed were transferred and adjusted within the premises of the same Educational institution,” Ganesh Khajuria said and added that the aggrieved Teachers, Masters and Lecturers include females, single parents, physically handicapped, patients with life long ailments and persons at the verge of retirement.
The Forum leader claimed that the Director School education had assured to modify the orders of those transferred to odd stations by September 15 but the same was not done for the reasons best known to the concerned authorities.
“Under the prevailing circumstances, we have no option other than to resort to agitational path for seeking justice for the aggrieved ,” he said and announced 72-hour chain hunger strike from September 26 in the premises of Directorate of School Education Jammu.
The Forum also appealed the Education Minister Naeem Akhtar to intervene into the matter and provide justice to the aggrieved teaching community.
Rajinder Gupta, Yog Raj Singh, Soorat Singh Toofani, Darshan Sharma, Raj Singh, Subash Chander, Ravinder Singh, Shankar Singh and others were also present in the press conference.
