JAMMU, Dec 22: J&K Sikh United Front (JKSUF) today extended support to the hunger strike by Gurbaksh Singh, who is a Punjabi novelist with more than 50 books in his credit at Gurudwara Aamb Saab, Chandigarh.
Addressing a press conference, Avtar Singh Khalsa, general secretary, JKSUF said that Gurbaksh Singh is on hunger strike to secure the release of Sikhs, who are in the jails since long after the completion of their sentence and trials in various Indian courts.
Khalsa appealed the Government to release the Sikh detainees immediately, whose trials and sentences are completed.
He also urged the Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal to intervene and sort out the issues.
Among others present were Mohinder Singh from Bhai Kanahiya Nishkam Sewa Society, Paramjit Singh, J&K Sikh Student Federation, Ramneek Singh Bijral, Kulwant Singh, Manmohan Singh, Rajinder Singh, Raja Singh and Sukhjeet Singh.
