J&K’s ace sport climber Shivani leaves for China

JAMMU, May 9: Shivani Charak of Mountaineering Association of J&K (MAJK), the top ranked woman sport climber of India, left today for China to participate in a two-day international competition in Lead climbing and Bouldering to be held at Ningbo, an industrial hub of East China, from May 11.
Shivani along with Adarsh Singh of Delhi has been selected by Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) to represent India in a series of competitions at five different cities of China during the current year. For all these competitions Shivani has been fully sponsored by the Government of China.
Whereas the first competition will be held at Ningbo, the second competition in Lead and Speed climbing shall be organized from tomorrow at Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet autonomous region, at an altitude of 12000ft and the 3rd competition from July14 at Delingha, situated at an altitude of 10000ft in Northern China.
The fourth and fifth competitions in Lead and Speed Climbing will be held at Lanzhou in North West China and Wanxiam mountain, a popular film shooting base and summar resort of China.
Meanwhile, the members of MAJK led by Ram Khajuria, General Secretary wished Shivani best of luck.
