JKRTC workers stage protest, demand 4 months’ salary

JAMMU, Apr 11: The employees and daily rated workers of Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) held a strong protest demonstration against the Management of the Corporation and JKUT Transport authorities.

A large number of employees and workers of the JKRTC, led by Provincial president of J&K UT Road Transport Corporation Workers Union, Paramjeet Singh assembled near Press Club Jammu and started protest demonstration against JKRTC Management and Transport authorities for their failure to provide last four months salary to the Corporation employees. They claimed that due to non-disbursement of their wages, their families were facing starvation and they could not pay the school fee of their children.
They pointed out that Corporation remained headless for over a week after the retirement previous MD on March 31, 2022. The new Managing Director was appointed hardly on Sunday. The adhocism is prevalent in the UT Administration. They demanded that salary be paid every month regularly. They also demanded regularization of consolidated employees who have completed 8 years, release of pending 57% DA, issue confirmation orders of already completed DPC held in 2021, liquidation of current liability of JKRTC including post retiral benefits, implementation of SRO-43, release of pending arrears of COLA/ 7th Pay Commission, implementation of 7th Pay Commission and reversal of decision of closure of JKRTC HSD dispensation pumps.
The Chairman of the Union Wajahat Hussain urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene personally and resolve the pending issues of the JKRTC workers without any more delay as the concerned officers were just buying time and were not serious in the settlement of their issues, otherwise RTC employees will be forced to come out on the roads and observe complete strike in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
