JKPCC recalls sacrifices of Gandhi, Congress leadership

SRINAGAR, Aug 8: The J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today recalled selfless services and sacrifices of Father of the Nation and the then entire Congress leadership over launching of August 9, 1942 Quit India Movement to achieve freedom from foreign rule. The day is now celebrated as Karanti Diwas.
JKPCC also lauded the role of Mahatma Gandhi, who gave a call for Quit India in his famous do or die speech demanding complete independence from British rulers.
JKPCC also saluted the bravery of the then entire Congress leadership, who energized the freedom movement and gave countless sacrifices for the prestige of the Nation.
On this occasion JKPCC slammed BJP Government for allegedly eroding democratic institutions in the country for the sake of remaining in power.
The Congress also paid glowing tributes to Father of the Nation and also to the then entire Congress leadership and other freedom fighters.
JKPCC appealed the people across the country to rise to the occasion to save democracy and democratic institutions to ensure that people get justice and genuine voices were not cramped by the ruling dispensation.
