JAMMU, Nov 18: A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association today called on Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhavan.
The delegation led by its President, Prof. (Dr) Ashutosh Sharma comprising its office bearers apprised the Lt Governor about various issues pertaining to the development of sports sector in J&K; engaging well educated international and national sports officials; optimal utilization of available resources and other concerning issues.
While interacting with the members of the delegation, the Lt Governor observed that the Government is committed to the development of the sports sector in J&K. He also assured the delegation that all the genuine issues projected by them would be looked into for their early redressal.
Meanwhile, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, senior BJP, Kashmiri Pandit leader and Incharge Department of Political Affairs and Feedback, J&K-BJP met Lt. Governor.
During his meeting Chrungoo presented the memorandum and two books “Mission Accomplished” and “Adv. P.N.Bhat, a symbol of struggle & sacrifice” to the Lt. Governor.
In his memorandum Chrungoo said that it is true that the time for the resettlement of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir hasn’t come yet, but as a matter of preparedness, two preludes could be taken up immediately for paving way for the settlement of displaced people in Valley.
It said the time for taking a bold and right step regarding issuing an Ordinance in connection with the Kashmir Hindu Temples and Shrines Bill has come. In order to protect, preserve and promote the ten thousand years old civilizational legacy of Kashmir, an appropriate Ordinance covering the objectives of the Bill may be now promulgated and a Board accordingly constituted to manage the affairs of the new mechanism. This will go a long way to build the necessary confidence to move ahead in Kashmir regarding the restoration of faith to re-establish the Hindu community back in the Valley,.
It said the National Human Rights Commission’s (NHRC) Court pronounced its decision on the first memorandum submitted in 1994 by him to it. The NHRC delivered its final decision on the core issue of “genocide” of the Kashmiri Pandits. The order unequivocally said that “the crimes committed against the Kashmiri Pandits are by any yardstick, deserving of the strongest condemnation. And there can be no gainsaying the acute suffering and deprivation caused to the community”……..”The Commission is constrained to observe that while acts akin to genocide have occurred in respect of the KPs and that, indeed, in the minds and utterances of some of the militants a ‘genocide-type design’ may exist….., the crimes against the Kashmiri Pandits, are grave.”.
The memorandum alleged that all successive governments have failed continuously and perpetually to take forward the message of NHRC to its logical conclusion.
Chrungoo appealed LG to treat his write-up as a request to establish a “Special Crimes Tribunal” to investigate the “crimes against humanity” committed in regard to the minorities of J&K, including Hindus and Sikhs over the last 35 years. This will go a long way to bring justice to the wailing, weeping and crying victims of genocide, who didn’t get justice till date.
