JKNTUF demands regularization of 62000 casual labourers

SRINAGAR, Aug 20: Jammu and Kashmir National Trade Union Front today demanded regularization of casual employees of various Government departments during a protest demonstration held here today.
The protesters converged at press enclave here and demanded the regularization policy for the 62000 casual labourers of various departments engaged after 1994 as well as the release of their pending wages. They were protesting under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir National Trade Union Front.
The protesters were carrying a banner and raised anti-government slogans. “The previous as well as present Government has principally agreed to frame a regularization policy and promised to announce a higher power committee which will frame the policy but despite announcements, the Government has miserably failed to fulfil this promise till date,” they said.
The president JK National Trade Union Front, Mohammad Gafoor Dar warned against “testing patience” of casual labours.
“The next programme will be held on September 2 at all District Headquarters of valley and Jammu province if the demands are not settled by them,” he said. The protesters dispersed peacefully.
