KATHUA, June 2: The Central Government and the administrators of Jammu and Kashmir must pay utmost attention to the paramedic staff that has been disengaged from their services from Government Medical Colleges, Kathua, Rajouri, Doda, Anantnag and Baramulla.
This was stated by Appu Singh Advocate Supreme Court of India and Jammu and Kashmir High Court and Legal Advisor JKNPP while talking to reporters here, today.
While criticizing the Central Government and the administrators of Jammu and Kashmir she said they need to wake up now when the world dealing with an unprecedented crisis. This crisis is declared to be a pandemic by the ‘World Health Organization’, which has engulfed a substantial geographical part of the world. The Government of India has declared the National lockdown from March 25, 2020 for a period of 21 days to ensure complete social distancing, she added.
She said this lockdown created a tumultuous state of affairs for thousands of labourers, daily wagers and students who were left stranded and helpless outside their States or Union Territories. Amongst these sufferers were the paramedical personnel of Government Medical Colleges, Kathua, Rajouri; Doda; Anantnag and Baramulla. These people were left in a hamstrung position considering the beleaguered state of affairs that was created for them and still subsists.
She while expressing concern over disengagement of para medical staff by GMC Kathua and other GMCs justified their demand of absorbing them on regular posts and said the paramedic staff was not given one month’s notice before being disengaged from the services. Moreover the terms of SRO 24 dated 10-01-2019 were openly flouted.
Being a contractual employee, the paramedic staff has a right to seek enforcement of those very terms and conditions on which they have been engaged, she added.
