JKMHC climbs highest peak of Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Sept 18: It was a historical attempt to scale the highest mountain of Kashmir, Mount Kolahoi in Lidder valley of Kashmir Himalayas, successfully yesterday by a joint team of JKMHC and Indian Mountaineering Foundation.
The expedition of its kind was first time organized by the Tourism Department Kashmir with an aim to promote adventure tourism in the state.
The 15-member team, led by Saurabh Gandhi of Mumbai, was flagged off by Chief Minster here on September 6, 2015.
The team followed the Satlanjan-Dhudhsar lake route. The team was lucky to have fare weather during last week and was able to put 8 outsiders and 6 locals atop the iconic peak. The expedition Coordinator Naseer Mir informed that among local members, Junaid Beigh, G.M Wani, Nawab Maozam Khan, Imtiyaz Qureshi, Irfan Ahmad and Sabzar Ahmad climbed the peak. Incidentally Naseer has climbed the peak four times in the past. It was nearly after 3 decades that the J&K Mountaineering and Hiking Club has made a successful attempt to the peak .
