SRINAGAR, Sept 18: To represent the State in the prestigious Bhausaheb Nimbalkar Tournament to be organized by Maharashtra Cricket Association at Pune, the senior selectors of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) have selected a young 14-member team, here today.
The team will be led by gutsy all-rounder Ramdayal Punia, while opening batsman and military medium bowler, Adil Reshi will be his deputy.
According to Manzoor Wazir, treasurer JKCA, the selectors have given a chance to the youngsters to hone their skill in a longer version of the game as the tournament is of 3-day format.
The JKCA team will play its first match against Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) from September 22 to September 24, 2013, while it will face Hyderabad Cricket Association team from September 26 to September 28, 2013. In the third match of the Tournament, JKCA will take on MCA Secretary XI from September 30 to October 2, 2013.
The team: Ramdayal Punia (Captain), Adil Reshi, Bandeep Singh, Owais Shah, Paras Sharma, Asif Rasool, Manik Gupta, Waseem Raza, Sidharth Mangotra, Ahmed Omar Banday, Rohit Sharma, Amir Sofi, Umar Nazir and Gokul Baru.
The team will be accompanied by Abdul Qayoom as coach and Nirmal Singh as manager, while Dr Aijaz Chillo will be the physio.
