SRINAGAR, Sept 9: Even as life in Baramulla comes under threat after gruesome rape and murder of a minor girl and yesterdays killing of a Hurriyat activist by an unidentified gunman, Jammu Kashmir Awami Forum (JKAF) held a convention at Baramulla, today took out march against Uri rape & murder case and poll boycott call given by political parties.
Baramulla district has been on the receiving end of the cross border infiltration and sponsored terror and now social menace is tightening grip on it. JKAF Baramulla convention and march against Uri rape & murder case and poll boycott call by political parties will certainly go down in the history of Baramulla district, marking the historic day in its annals.
Baramulla today witnessed the gathering of people in large numbers at the Dak Banglow where the convention was held which culminated in a march at town hall near DC Office that firmly spoke against double standards of separatists, political parties mainly National Conference boycotting upcoming local bodies and Panchayat elections who are actually responsible for such menace in the society, militancy, violence, insurgency, corruption and addiction .
The JKAF, which led this historic march through main roads of Baramulla town where more joined in, rose voice against the gruesome rape & murder of minor girl in Uri where none of separatists or political parties has come to roads who were making otherwise hue and cry across the country about the concerns of the Valley people
In the mass meeting today held by Jammu and Kashmir Awami Forum activists of District Baramullah its chairman, Farooq Ganai, general secretary, Mashhoor Banday, spokesperson, G.N. Parwana and I/C Baramulla, Sheikh Nazir also spoke. After meeting a rally was organized to register a protest against the rape and murder of a teenager in Trikanjan Uri of Baramulla district. The chairman and other speakers at the occasion condemned the ghastly act and demanded a thorough and thread bare probe into the shameful act. Spokesperson and some reasonable workers questioned the boycott call of the upcoming State local bodies and Panchayat elections by the erstwhile ruling parties of the State terming it as nothing but a black mailing drama.
They condemned the boycott call of forthcoming Municipal by the heads of the political parties who’s representatives are occupying the Parliamentary berths.
The Awami Forum has vowed to fight such opportunist politics at all levels.
