JAMMU, Oct 14: Jammu and Kashmir Acadmey of Art, Culture and Languages organized one day Seminar Samrityan (memories) for the first time in K L Saigal Hall in Dogri, Hindi and Punjabi languages.
Prof Lalit Magotra, eminent Dogri writer and Convener Dogri, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, presided and Prof Lalit Gupta, renowned art expert was the chief guest while Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Mrs Azra Choudhary, Chief Editor, JKAACL were also present in the presidium.
While delivering his presidential address, Prof Lalit Magotra complimented Cultural Academy for organizing seminar on such an important subject like ‘Samrityan (memories) and said that this is for the first time that one day seminar in Hindi, Dogri and Punjabi languages was organized where intellectuals of languages spoken in the region have shared their thoughts through the window of their memories and helped more addition in the wisdom.
He said that such programmes should be done as regular activity in future. He also appreciated the writers for their participation in this seminar.
Prof Lalit Gupta, an art historian and columnist, while addressing the gathering congratulated the participating writers and said that the writing on memories is not an easy task. He also suggested that the intellectuals should also rethink over the how memories can be created in the form of articles/writings.
Earlier, while welcoming the distinguished guests, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn informed about the future activities of the J&K Cultural Academy. He further told that national seminars , conferences and mega events related to culture and visual and performing arts including Annual Drama Festival, on the spot music and painting competitions for children and so on will be featured in near future.
The writers who participated included Dr Om Goswami, Brij Mohan, Prof Champa Sharma, Prof Shiv Nirmohi, Naresh Kumar Udaas, Mrs Yogita Yadav, Mrs Neeru Sharma, Ajit Singh Mastana, Dr Monojit, Dr Janak Singh Kirti and Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri and vote of thanks was presented by Mrs Azra Choudhary.
