JAMMU, Sept 28: The 21st J&K UT Athletics Championship, both in Men and Women category, commenced today.
The 1st day of the event witnessed large participation from all districts of J&K in both Men and Women category. This is for the 1st time that the UT Athletics Championship is being conducted on Athletics Synthetic Track.
The entries were done online and the meet is being conducted using latest technology methods i.e Photo-finish system etc. The athletes participated in different age categories. The highlight of today’s event was new UT Record in 5000 m Race by Ritik Sharma of district Kathua with a timing of 14.58.
The dignitaries present on the occasion were Prof (Dr) Ashutosh Sharma (president, J&K Olympic Association) and Mohd Hanief (Chief Sports Officer, J&K Sports Council), among others.
