JAMMU, Feb 25: Financial Inclusion & Insurance Department under the chairmanship of Janak Raj Angural and in collaboration with RBI & NABARD organized seven Financial Literacy Awareness Programmes among unbanked villages of Branch Offices Kralgund, Poshwan, Reban, Watergam, Surinsar, Bhalwal & Chatha under Districts Kupwara, Baramulla and Jammu. Simultaneously, twenty six village level programmes were also held at different villages under that many branch offices under district Bandipora, Baramulla, Kathua, Kupwara, Poonch, Rajouri and Samba.
Anil Reshi, Manager (RBI), Financial Inclusion Department was the chief guest at the camp held at unbanked village Sagoon under Branch office Surinsar.
He appreciated the role of Grameen Bank in spreading financial literacy and awareness and consequent development in the state.
Besides talking over major social security schemes, he also spread awareness about various types of fraudulent activities prevalent in the market to dupe innocent people of their hard earned monies.
He narrated various incidents of frauds including ATM frauds and the mechanism of such frauds so as to make the gathering well educated about such nefarious activities. He said that the Surinsar area has vast potential for dairy and mushroom production.
Vipan Gupta, HoD (FIID), J&K Grameen Bank, welcomed the gathering briefed about various social security schemes like APY, PMSBY, PMJJBY, etc.
Meena Rajput, Panch, Village Sagoon and Nisha Devi, NRLM Coordinator were the guests of honour during the occasion.
Both appreciated the role of Grameen Bank for a remarkable turnaround in the rural economy. Aamir Javed, Branch Head Surinsar, J&K Grameen Bank, highlighted the benefits of digital banking and cash less economy. He gave a detailed overview of various lending and deposit schemes of the Bank offered at lucrative interest rates.
Representatives of Line Departments like KVIB, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Education and NRLM also attended the programme.
The Branch Heads at their respective locations spread the message of financial literacy and awareness among the population of remote villages.
They enlightened the people about new technologies available in the bank such as multiple uses of Bank cheques, Use of POS Machine, RuPay Debit card, KCC RuPay Debit Card, Net Banking, Mobile Banking Services, IMPS, and Aadhaar based transactions etc.
