JAMMU, Jan 19: Defeating Goa by a big margin of 60 runs in the semifinals, Jammu and Kashmir sealed berth in the finals of the 61st National School Games Under-19 Boys Cricket Tournament, being played at Ranchi in Jharkhand.
Earlier, after beating CBSE, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in the pool matches, Jammu and Kashmir defeated formidable Goa in the semifinals to enter into the finals.
Batting first, J&K scored a decent total of 96 runs in the stipulated 12 overs. Danish was the top scorer with 41 runs, while Saqib, Basit and Umar Sofi contributed 17, 12 and 14 runs to the total respectively.
In reply, Goa bundled out for a paltry total of 36 runs in 7 overs, thus lost the match by a big margin of 60 runs. Tanay and Kedar contributed 15 and 12 runs to the total respectively. Sahil Singh was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 4 important wickets, while Rustam Ali Wani scalped 3 wickets and Umar Sofi claimed one.

It is pertinent to mention here that Jammu and Kashmir has been performing well in Tennis Ball Cricket Tournaments at the National level since the induction of the game in the calendar of activities of School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
