JAMMU, Jan 11: J&K men and women teams registered convincing victories against their respective rivals to continue their winning spree at the 67th Senior National Basketball Championship being played at Puducherry.
J&K men who stunned fancied UP in their previous round were pitted against lowly Arunachal Pradesh. From the very beginning, Arunachal men had no answer to penetrating fast breaks and dominating defense of the J&K men and in the first quarter itself, the void between the two teams was fully exposed. Soon into the second quarter, Coach Aman Sharma fielded his bench, but they too proved difficult preposition for the Arunachal men. At the end of the first half, J&K men were sitting at comfortable 20 point lead with useful contributions from Kunal Gupta and Shubham Sharma at the final hooter, the score line read 51-21.
JK women were pitted against Bihar after defeating Tripura in their first round match. Once again, 6′-3″ Pearl Sharma was the difference between the two teams. Bihar girls tried their best to contain Pearl, but the task proved much beyond them and the J&K women had started making steady gains from the first quarter itself and they finished the match at 28-13.
