JJSF to organise ‘Chhatra Shaheed Memorial Football Tournament’ from tomorrow

JAMMU, Oct 7: To commemorate and pay homage to the student martyrs of 1966, namely Gulshan Handa, S. Gurcharan Singh, Brij Mohan and Subash Chander, who sacrificed their lives while fighting against the shifting of Agricultural University (SKUAST) from Jammu to Kashmir by the then Government, Jammu Joint Students’ Federation (JJSF) is going to organize ‘Chhatra Shaheed Memorial Football Tournament-2018′ sponsored by the J&K Bank, under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) from October 9 to October 18, 2018 at GGM Science College Football ground, here.
Addressing the media persons, Pushvinder Singh, President, JJSF said that JJSF is observing Martyrs’ days on October 16, 17 and 18 since 1985 to pay the tributes to the Student Martyrs of 1966, who laid down their lives for the cause of Jammu.
He said that JJSF has decided to organize a football tournament in the memory of these Student Martyrs of 1966, adding that the Tournament will start from October 9, 2018 with an opening match between Param FC and All Star at 1 pm at Football ground of GGM Science College.
He further said that the tournament is being organized under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Football Association and is sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir Bank and 20 registered clubs are participating in the event.
Singh further told that the tournament is to be played on knockout basis and final of the tournament is scheduled to be played on October 17, 2018.
“Dogra Cultural Programme namely Sheed-e-Duggar will be organised on October 18, which will be followed by Prize Distribution ceremony,” Push-pinder added.
