JAMMU, Nov 11: In order to aware the people about Diabetes, a painting competition organized by Jammu Diabetes Care Centre (JDCC) in collaboration with IMFA was held here today.
The competition was organized as a part of World Diabetes Day Celebrations, which falls on 14th November to commemorate the birth day of Sir frederick Bantings, who co-discovered insulin in 1922.
The theme of this year is “Diabetes and well-being”, which emphasizes a holistic approach to manage diabetes, including mental health, not just physical health
This year students of IMFA were given various topics on Diabetes to put their imagination in their paintings.
The topics included, Changing Life style-A cause of Diabetes, Lesser calories- optimum weight- lesser diabetes, Fast food kills fast- live better, Control blood sugar- prevent Diabetes and Insulin- a friend in need.
The paintings were of a very high quality and students have put their thoughts in right prospective.
Dr Raj Kumar Sharma renowned Diabetologist and a noted Artist have been conducting these programs for the last two decades.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Raj Kumar Sharma emphasized on the need of awareness among the youth to minimize the increasing incidence of diabetes.
He stressed on meticulous control of blood sugar by regular monitoing, exercise and proper dietary intake which will in long term benefits to the patients and prevent complications of their vital organs like heart, kidney, eyes and brain.
This competition was supervised by Dr Milan Sharma, HoD Painting and the eminent jury comprising of senior Artists Gokal Dembi, Padam Shree Rajinder Tickoo and Bhushan Kesar, who selected the winners and prizes were given to them.
Monika Chouhan won the first prize, Sachan Dev won 2nd prize, Kush Malhotra 3rd prize, while Divya Rathore won first consolation prize and Adith Singh Kotwal win second consolation prize.
Dr Lalit Gupta Ex HoD Art History and Rakesh Sharma Ex HoD Applied Arts, IMFA were also present during the competition.
