JCCI takes up GST related issue with Finance Secy

JAMMU, July 13: The members of Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI) today discussed the problems being faced by the traders after implementation of GST in the State.
Commissioner/ Secretary Finance Navin Kumar Choudhary during visit to the Chamber House here today had interaction with the JCCI president Rakesh Gupta and other office bearers. He also took a round of the Chamber House and inspected the up-gradation works carried out after the grant-in-aid provided by the Government in the recent past.
Choudhary had a thorough discussion with the Chamber members regarding implementation of GST and enquired about the problems being faced by trade and industry. Gupta explained to the Commissioner that in absence of clarity regarding remission to industry, it was not possible for the industrialists to carry on business and raise invoices. He requested the Commissioner that the Government should take up the matter of reducing GST on walnuts and almonds with the GST Council.
The Jammu Chamber also pleaded for withdrawal of Toll Tax at Lakhanpur for which the Commissioner/ Secretary asked the Chamber office bearers to have serious meetings with the traders and industry members and identify sensitive products being manufactured by the industry which could be safeguarded by way of toll tax and also identify those items on which the traders are facing losses.
The Chamber also took up the matter of controlling flight of trade from neighbouring States so that automobile dealers do not lose their sales. Commissioner/ Secretary said that written suggestions from Chamber be sent how to stop the flight of trade so that needful be done at the earliest. Chamber requested the Commissioner to provide experts who could make the traders and industrialists aware on the subject of GST and reply their queries.
JCCI office bearers Rajesh Gupta, Rajeev Gupta, Manish Gupta, Gaurav Gupta and Ashu Gupta were also present.
